
There is one federal district court in Alaska. On the state court side, the highest court is the Alaska Supreme Court. Below that is the Alaska Court of Appeals, which hears appeals involving criminal matters. There is a Superior Court in each of Alaska's four judicial districts. These handle civil and criminal trials, as well as appeals from the various Alaska District Courts.

The Alaska Court of Appeals hears appeals from criminal trials, post-conviction relief, juvenile delinquency, extradition, habeas corpus, probation and parole, bail and sentencing matters.
Alaska Superior Court
There Alaska Superior Court is the state's trial court of general jurisdiction. A superior court is located in each of Alaska's four judicial districts. The superior court is Alaska's trial court for both criminal and civil matters. It will also hears appeals from cases tried in an Alaska district court.
Alaska District Courts
District courts in Alaska hear misdeameanors, civil cases below a monetary threshhold, small claims matters, and domestic violence matters.
