There is one federal district court in
Colorado. On the state court side, the highest court is the
Colorado Supreme Court. Below
that is the Colorado Court of Appeals,
an intermediate appellate court. There are twenty-two
District Courts in Colorado.
These handle civil and criminal trials, as well as juvenile and probate
matters. Denver is the only district with separate probate and
juvenile courts. There are also
County Courts in each of Colorado's sixty-four counties for smaller
civil matters and misdemeanor trials.
